CLEMSON — Clemson’s formula so far in its up-and-down season to this point is to fall behind early and then come back late to put itself in position to win.

On Wednesday, however, the 23rd-ranked Tigers took a different approach. They took a commanding early lead and then watched as Charlotte roared back midway through the game for an 8-3 victory at Sue M. Daughtridge Field in Charlotte, N.C.

The 49ers (9-2) rallied from a three-run deficit thanks to a six run fourth inning, while handing Clemson its fifth loss in 11 games this year.

Down 3-0, Charlotte loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning with one out and drew a walk from second baseman Jaylah Jarrell to get on the board.
