Commanders may have created the perfect storm for a defensive game-changer

The Washington Commanders have left no stone unturned in free agency so far. And one expert believes this could push general manager Adam Peters straight toward an obvious prospect at No. 7 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

An aggressive first wave of free agency opens things up for Peters, both for the draft and the remainder of this offseason. The Commanders have money to spend, should they wish. With only six picks in the draft — only two of those in the first four rounds — that looks entirely possible.

Peters can play the board effectively.
